چکیده

For a given graph H and n¿ 1, let f(n; H) denote the maximum number m for which it is possible to colour the edges of the complete graph Kn with m colours in such a way that each subgraph H in Kn has at least two edges of the same colour. Equivalently, any edge-colouring of Kn with at least rb(n; H) = f(n; H) + 1 colours contains a rainbow copy of H . Erdős, Simonovits and S6 os have determined rb(n; Kk) for large enough n. Moreover, for k = 3, they have shown that rb(n; K3) = n. In this paper we will determine the rainbow numbers rb(n; Kk) for all n¿ k¿ 4, and the rainbow numbers rb(n; kK2) for all k¿ 2 and n¿ 3k + 3. c © 2004 Published by Elsevier B.V. Coverings, matchings and paired domination in fuzzy graphs using strong arcs

The concepts of covering and matching in fuzzy graphs using strong arcs are introduced and obtained the relationship between them analogous to Gallai’s results in graphs. The notion of paired domination in fuzzy graphs using strong arcs is also studied. The strong paired domination number γspr of complete fuzzy graph and complete bipartite fuzzy graph is determined and obtained bounds for the s...

Given two graphs G and H, let f(G,H) denote the maximum number c for which there is a way to color the edges of G with c colors such that every subgraph H of G has at least two edges of the same color. Equivalently, any edge-coloring of G with at least rb(G,H) = f(G,H) + 1 colors contains a rainbow copy of H, where a rainbow subgraph of an edge-colored graph is such that no two edges of it have...

Rainbow Ramsey Numbers of Stars and Matchings

Expanding on a recent definition by Bialostocki and Voxman, we define the rainbow ramsey number RR(G1, G2) of two graphs G1 and G2 to be the minimum integer N such that any edge-coloring of the complete graph KN with any number of colors must contain either a copy of G1 with every edge the same color or a copy of G2 with every edge a different color. This number is well-defined if G1 is a star ...

On rainbow matchings in bipartite graphs

We present recent results regarding rainbow matchings in bipartite graphs. Using topological methods we address a known conjecture of Stein and show that if Kn,n is partitioned into n sets of size n, then a partial rainbow matching of size 2n/3 exists. We generalize a result of Cameron and Wanless and show that for any n matchings of size n in a bipartite graph with 2n vertices there exists a f...

Complete forcing numbers of polyphenyl systems

The idea of “forcing” has long been used in many research fields, such as colorings, orientations, geodetics and dominating sets in graph theory, as well as Latin squares, block designs and Steiner systems in combinatorics (see [1] and the references therein). Recently, the forcing on perfect matchings has been attracting more researchers attention. A forcing set of M is a subset of M contained...
